LANDHOLDERS
On returning to the colony via Albany from England in 1834 Sir James Stirling realised some inadequacies of the young colony. Due to bad weather he was stranded in Albany for six weeks reinforcing the need for overland passage between Albany and Perth a necessity for future growth and settlement expansion. A group led by the Governor and included Police, Military and vigilantes descended on Pinjarra to break the stronghold of the Bindjareb Nyungars.
